It’s simple really… When the saints pray… stuff happens!

intern

Here at YouthHOPE, one way in which we transform the lives of global youth is through internships. Every summer we send teams out to work with our Global Youth Workers and be a blessing to the ministries. This is a way for us to give encouragement to our youth workers and for their ministry to get a boost of energy. In about 5 weeks YouthHOPE will be sending out 15 college students and team leaders “to go into all the world” and work alongside our missionaries in 5 different countries. On May 28th, all of our interns will come together for training and preparation in Fort Myers, Florida and then on June 3rd, they will go out…to Bulgaria, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, and Southeast Asia to learn, serve and grow. This summer our interns will get a chance to learn and gain hands-on cross-cultural youth ministry experience while working with experienced Global Youth Workers and their ministries. Interns will develop and teach in an …

Florida, Bulgaria, and to the Ends of the Earth

What to say about the Key West Bike Ride? From our global youth workers Gabe and Melissa Hillman. It was a blessing, an encouragement, an ordained event. But the ride went beyond those things. It moved our ministry one step ahead in transforming lives of youth for God’s kingdom.  It connected the hearts of real people to the needs and lives of teens here in Bulgaria.  The riders prayed for us, labored for us, sacrificed for us and persevered all on our behalf and to God’s glory.  We prayed for the riders while they prayed for us, and we felt a part of their experience too. Now that the ride is over, we’ve been able to hear testimonies of how God blessed, protected, and grew the riders. It is a testimony to God’s vastness. He spans across the oceans, around the world. He can move in the lives of 12 individuals in the U.S. and use it to make disciples in Eastern Europe. With the money raised we will be buying …

You road 300 miles…. on a bike???

Say what?!  Really?!!! Why? This question has been at the hot topic of my conversations lately.  For our 12 riders , the 300 miles the Lord set before us was anything but 'a ride in the park'.  Last week we faced the entire gamut of trials over the 5 day course to Key West from Fort Myers.  Rain.  Flat tires.  Gusts of Wind.  However, in the midst of these trials there was great fellowship and we can rest assured that God's name was made great and youth will be reached in the name of Christ through what we endured for only a short time. People will ask why! When you call Jesus your Lord, your life WILL look different. I praise God that I can answer these questions posed by others with joy of knowing our team rode to "let [the Father's] kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)  After cycling To the Ends of the Earth next to my brothers (and sister) in Christ, I can say that I now understand better what it …

“You will be my witnesses… TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH”

February 3, 2012 by B Sue Leave a Comment
Gabe on bike

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." -Acts 1:8 Tomorrow, our team of 12 riders will be cycling 300 miles to do what Jesus says we can do through the power of the Holy Spirit-  to be witnesses of Christ in Florida, Bulgaria, and 'To the Ends of the Earth.' God has provided a way for YouthHOPE and youth ministers from 7 different churches throughout the Fort Myers area to come together for the same cause- to reach the unreached youth of Bulgaria with the love of Christ.  Not only has God been faithful to provide riders, churches, and support for the ride, but He has also opened doors to share with the surrounding community the need for servants in youth ministry around the world.  We pray that through this ride we glorify the Father on earth, having accomplished the work that he gave us to do …

Why I’m Excited About this Week

National Missionary Convention (17-20) – I first attended this conference as a Bible College student in 2006 with the sole purpose of finding a youth ministry internship outside of the States. I failed. That experience though created a greater passion within me for pursuing global youth ministry and eventually played a part in YouthHOPE’s creation of our internship program. I’m looking forward to sharing about our 5 global youth ministry internships, connecting with past interns, and recruiting more full-time global youth workers. National Youth Worker Convention (18-20) – This has been going down every year since 1970, so everyone in Youth Ministry already knows what it is all about, right? Everyone except me that is, I’ve never been. I’m excited YouthHOPE has a presence at the convention this year, and really excited for youth groups to start doing The Hunger Strike Challenge (here is one reason why). Extended …

Where are the youth?

October 11, 2011 by Aaron 5 Comments

I am sitting in church in the city of Velingrad, Bulgaria. Bulgaria is a country of about 7 million people. In the last census, there were approximately 64,000 people or about 1% of the population that identified themselves as protestants. Even the church that I am visiting is small, there are about 50 enthusiastic believers that sing beautifully their praises to God. The pastor is personable and has a somewhat casual style of preaching. I feel welcome and comfortable in spite of the fact that I understand almost nothing that is said (I don't speak Bulgarian). However, there is something missing. Something inside of me doesn't feel right. Then it dawns on me that there are very few faces that are younger than me (an old man of 41). I notice a few couples in their early 30's with young children, but the majority of the congregation is made up of women 50+ years. I looked around as we sang and spotted one teenager, running …
