For the third time, from November 17th to 23rd, a group of seven young professionals from Chile traveled to the country of Haiti to partner and serve alongside Bezalel Movement. For 7 days they focused on evangelism, delivering food to the elderly, visiting Jacmel Hospital and conducting a Youth Ministry Training for local churches.
For the first time a YouthHOPE team reached the community of Maplat - two and half hours away from the city of Jacmel. It was here where they served and worked alongside the Maplat Harvest Chapel. In one of the activities focused on kids, 61 children accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. At the same time, the health team was working on prevention of disease through preventive health examination and oral education, serving over 210 people between adults and children.
Finally, the team raised among friends and churches back in Chile an offering of $1,200 for the construction of a shelter in a preschool and primary school in Maplat that serve 300 children. This project will help them to have more space for teaching-learning.
We believe that God was glorified throughout this mission project. At the same, we can say there is no cultural and language barriers that can stop a group of Chilean and Haitian youth. We can work and serve together in practical ways to share the good news of Jesus.
