We offer multiple YouthHOPE Apprenticeships that give individuals the opportunity to explore their God-given abilities in a cross-cultural environment. Apprenticeships are no longer than one year in length and are coordinated through the Short-term Ministries Department at NMSI. Each apprenticeship is uniquely designed for the individual participant or team and is set up to enhance the long-term ministry of the global youth workers or nationals being served.
All apprentices are required to raise their own support just like all of YouthHOPE’s development team or global youth workers. Upon acceptance to the program, we will provide you with materials that will help guide you through this support raising process.
Like all YouthHOPE projects, each apprenticeship will begin with a pre-field orientation to help position all participants in the best possible way to minister in a different culture. Each apprenticeship will end with a post-field debriefing in which each participant will evaluate what they have learned and discuss how their experience can continue to impact their lives and enhance their future ministry.
“I had the opportunity to do an apprenticeship with YouthHOPE for a period of six months. I had to do an internship for college credit and YouthHOPE worked it out so that I was able to do it with them. I had the opportunity to work with a team of people that had a passion for global youth ministry that is a rarity. I was able to go on two short-term projects during my apprenticeship to Haiti and Costa Rica. While on these projects, I participated in youth leader trainings, a youth retreat, teaching English in schools and getting to know, serve and learn from the people there. During my time with YouthHOPE, I was able to observe and learn how to plan and carry out a short-term project. It was refreshing to be around people that wanted to know what your gifts were and how that could be used within YouthHOPE, instead of just seeing a place that needed to be filled and being plugged into that. YouthHOPE is a growing and vibrant ministry that is focused on equipping the church globally to meet the holistic needs of youth. Why would you not want to be a part of a ministry that is transforming the lives of youth around the world?”
