As I think of the 4 weeks of recruiting across 10 states, I’m able to look back over our time and be amazed by the provision of God and the incredible ways he encouraged us throughout the time.
I want to thank those who were praying for us, it was evident that God was answering and blessing us in ways I didn’t even realize I needed.
Throughout the 4 weeks we had the opportunity to speak with lots of college students who are on fire for God and have a desire to follow Him to the ends of the world, or next door, wherever He calls. We got to listen as students shared their hearts, their passions, their dreams that God has planted in them. (Let me tell you, I am blessed to do that as part of my “job”).
One of the encounters that was particularly encouraging to me was at the last school we went to for recruiting, Berry College in Rome, Georgia. By this time in the journey, Britney and I were definitely feeling some of the effects of being on the road for over 3 weeks. We spent much of the day at our booth in the common area and had been blessed to talk with quite a few students. It had been a good day, but, honestly, I was exhausted.
We began to pack things up, but got distracted by our conversation and stopped packing up. Just as we were getting moving again, a student came up and asked who we were. We explained what we do and then asked about her. She is seeking an opportunity to serve overseas and currently helps with the youth group at her church. The incredible thing was that us meeting her was very obviously God’s plan. We should have already been packed up and out of there and she never comes into that building, but just happened to have a class canceled. She had just been praying for God to show her some opportunities and direction…and then there we were! We all walked away excited about meeting one another and encouraged by God’s hand over every situation and encounter!
This is just one example of the awesome students we met with throughout the journey! It was definitely a time of blessing and encouragement!
