Miguel Angel Faúndez is the director of training for Youth Specialties Chile. He was born in the south of Chile, the son of a pastor, and has been involved in youth ministry since he was a student himself. More than 10 years ago Miguel saw the need to provide opportunities for youth that were different than the traditional and restrictive style of his church. So along with a group of friends they started a summer camp program that has reached out to hundreds of students over the years.
Miguel has also been involved in missions. He attended Youth With a Mission’s Discipleship Training School and traveled extensively with the Chilean director throughout Asia and Oceania on mission projects. He then took the opportunity to spend two years studying youth ministry at Christ for the Nationas in Dallas, TX, where he received a diploma in youth ministry. He is currently finishing up his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Dallas Baptist University. Miguel is passionate about creating small businesses that can provide sustainable ways of doing ministry in countries that typically cannot afford to pay a full-time minister.

Miguel began working with Aaron Arnold, YouthHOPE’s executive director, in 2006, upon return from the USA. Miguel’s ministry is focused on training and resourcing youth workers in Chile as well as other parts of Latin America. He travels extensively to speak at youth events, training seminars, and conventions. He also oversees other aspects of Youth Specialties Chile like their e-learning program and their strategic partnerships with groups like World Vision. To stay current with youth ministry and to satistfy his desire to be personally involved in the lives of youth, Miguel volunteers in the youth ministry program at his local church in Santiago.
